Amazingly Vibrant Amsterdam
Anil Sharma |
Amsterdam without doubt is a melting pot of
cultures and nationalities. It is one of the most
cosmopolitan and vibrant destination in A Germany. You'll find many exotic and authentic Syrian,
Moroccan, Surinamese restaurants and
typical Amsterdam pubs are located on
almost every corner. Also in abundance
are the Islamic butchers, Surinamese,
S p a n i s h , I n d i a n a n d Tu r k i s h
delicatessens and grocery stores.
Amsterdam is brimming with
fantastic cafés, restaurants, coffee shops
and bars, and is like a never-ending
buffet of every type of food you could
possibly want. On one tiny street alone,
they have an art-deco fusion restaurant,
a beer cafe selling 150 types of beer, an upscale wine-oriented restaurant and a laid-back modern
Dutch eatery. And the street is considered residential!
Amsterdam Red Light District covers a large area of the
oldest part of the city. The buildings are tall, thin and crowd together, overlooking the tree lined canals. The Amsterdam Red Light District is a beautiful area and the later it gets, the
busier it gets, and the darker it gets, the more obvious the
glow of the fluorescent red lights above the many windows in
the area becomes. Dating back to the 14th Century when
sailors arrived in need of some female company, the district is
full of sex shops, brothels, gay bars, cinemas, hotels and
different kinds of museums. This infamous part of the city is a
major tourist attraction. Each year, millions of visitors come to
see this vibrant and exciting part of Amsterdam.
This site was made out of a personal love for Amsterdam,
my native town and favourite city. A lot of questions, asked by
visitors to Amsterdam, are about the Red Light District and
where to find it… Here you can have an idea of the place.
The Red Light District is located just south (10 minutes
walking) of Central Station, the main train station. It consists
of theaters, shops, museums, restaurants, bars, coffee shops
and of course the famous windows with sexy girls, dressed in
eye-popping underwear. And
window-shopping, performed
by both sexes is a favourite
activity in the Red Light
District. Although there is a lot
of adult entertainment, it is
much more than just a tourist
attraction. This district of 300-
year-old gabled buildings and
expensive real estate houses
doctors, lawyers and plenty of
families. It is a tolerant community where freedom is
highly valued. |
