Air India gets new fleet, seeks 60 more



A state-of-the-art Boeing 777-200LR has been inducted into Air India’s fleet to pave its way for the race of global leadership. No else than prime minister Dr. Manmohan Singh presided the occasion attaching importance with the glorious event. He observed - This is a historic day for all those associated with Air India and Indian. I take pride in the fact that our government has taken steps to end a long period of neglect of our national carriers.Two planes of Air India express and two modified cargo planes were also incorporated into the Air India fleet on this occasion.

Adding substance to this occasion Union Civil Aviation Minister Mr. Praful Patel with an ambition to make AI a world leader in the trade sought 60 more aircrafts for this grand purpose. He said ‘If we have to look at growth ahead and to re-look at the entire fleet requirement. I will urge the government and the prime Minister to look into this aspect.
