WTTC emphasizes upon common man |
Union Minister of Tourism Mrs. Ambika Soni and President of World Travel and Tourism Council- WTTC Mr. Jean Claude Baumgarten both emphasized upon the need of attaching due importance to the Tourism in the WTTC meeting in Delhi. The optimism was all there at the conference when Mr. Nakul Anand, presiden WTTC India stated ‘The elephant is dancing and it will continue to dance for years ahead.The conference was at the top when other speakers began highlighting the serious obstacles hampering tour and travel trade ranging from infrastructure bottlenecks and land scarcity to shortage of manpower and lack of co-ordinated approach among stakeholders.
WTTC president Mr. Baumgarten was beaming with confidence when he observed that the current trend is very strong with conspicuous growth trends in travel and tourism in the matured markets. People according to him are now traveling four-five times a year in the stead of once or twice earlier. Along with the markets of Russia, China and India lesser known regional markets are also sprouting.
Mrs. Ambika Soni came up with a fresh dimension when she raised the need to involve the common man in scripting a new success story for the tourism sector. She said ‘ The growth in tourism will not be sustained if we do not involve the aam aadmi. She also took up the issue of a resounding public-private partnership in the tour and travel trade. Mrs. Soni also stated that the creation of world class tourism infrastructure is key to unleashing the full potential of this sector.
