TRAVELLING MADE EASY

European travel world's prized achieveme nt, the Eurail Group recently organized a road show in Delhi where they invited people from the travel trade as well as the media. In an extensive bid to promote its products, Eurail Group's Managing Director Mr. Rene de Groot spoke to the media about the company and the kind of travel offers they have for global travellers. Ms. Ana e Seixas, Marketing Director, Eurail Group and Shilpa Sethi, Executive Director, Buzz Travel Marketing India Pvt. Ltd. were also present at the event.
While talking to the media, Mr. Groot expressed that the European countries has a place of pride worldwide for their widely used railway networks. For short distances, European trains are fast, reliable and frequent. He further added, “Since the travel destinations in Europe are endless, the trains are the most flexible mode for a great European experience.”
When bought on the spot, trains tickets can be more expensive than cheap flights over the same distance, but this difference may disappear when the tickets are booked in advance. Not to forget the costs to get to the airport. However, with Eurail, cheap and hassle-free train trips are now not a difficult thing anymore.
The Eurorail (informally known as Eurail) Group G.I.E., a Netherlands-based company, sells passes and tickets for European railroads to residents of Europe and other countries for a smooth train experience. It provides Eurail Passes (formerly known as “Europass”) and InterRail Passes, with which a passenger can extensively travel on nearly all European railroads and some shipping lines at a fixed price per day of travel or travel within a certain number of days.
Popular among all the European travellers for over 50 years, Eurail Passes ensure travel freedom as “when and where to travel” along with other conveniences such as relieve from ticketing difficulties at stations and airports and enough time to systematically schedule itineraries.
The traditional Eurail Pass covers 22 countries including Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Republic of Ireland, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and Turkey. But the total number of countries covered is 30. At present, Eurail is offering four kind of passes suitable to different pockets. They are- Global Pass, Select Pass, Regional Pass and One Country Pass each of them offering access to all 22 countries to one single country of a traveller's choice.
Speaking exclusively to Outbound International about this exclusive pass system, Rene De Groot, Managing Director of Eurail said that the best time to enjoy these rail trips is from April to September. However, the months of June and July receive the maximum bookings. He also revealed, “The best part about this pass system is that we do not have any age limit or other criteria for travellers. Anybody from children to the elderly can enjoy these pass benefits in entire rail network.”
Eurail Passes can only be purchased by non-European residents. Countries not eligible to buy a Eurail Pass include; Turkey and the Russian Federation. It is possible for non-Europeans to obtain passes in Europe, although they are cheaper and easier to procure outside of Europe.
While speaking about the Indian tourists, Mr. Groot said that the number of Indian tourists availing the Eurail Passes is increasing every year and this summer they are expecting a large number of Indian globe trotters. The hope for overall tourist rate is also high as the global economy is recovering from the down turn.
So, travelling through different European countries has been tailor made by this great idea. And a summer vacation can now be described as tension free and easy on budget of all kind of travellers, not to mention the scenic beauty of Europe to make a holiday an experience of a life time. |
