We generally tend to stereotype a certain place so much that it automatically
gets associated with a generalized image. For instance, we often associate African
countries with wildlife safaris and relate Singapore to a shopping extravaganza.
For us, Paris is all about romance and Washington is the centre of world politics!
But, if we try looking beyond such stereotypes, a place emerges in a completely
different light. So what if you thought, this small island country called Taiwan is all
about an amalgamation of Chinese traditions and colonialism? Being in Taiwan is
not about Hakka noodles, Buddhist chants and Traditional art forms! There's a
wilder side to Taiwan and you better learn how to tame it.
Breaking free from the typical image of this small
island in the South-East cost of Mainland China,
team 'Outbound International' brings you a very new aspect of travelling all the way to this
unexplored world of innumerable charms. Trust us; you will
never regret the thousands of miles of travel as the
Portuguese sailors never did in the past. Like them, you will
only be enamored! Guaranteed that you will be charmed by
the oriental spells and even the Hakka Noodles, Buddhist
Chants and Traditional Art forms will appear unique to your
eyes and senses. But, when we introduce you to another facet
of this island nation, you will only be mesmerized.
If you already guessed what it is then you are on the right
track to cast off the spell of this place and exercise some
adrenaline rush. Adventure is the word that fits in here and by
the word, we certainly do not mean a Kung Fu session. Well, it
is a pretty amazing art of practicing strength, rigour and
patience and we know, you just admire the likes of
Bruce lee, Jackie Chan and the Kung Fu Panda! But,
Taiwan has now-a-day, surfaced as an adventure
sports destination for those who never mind the
boundaries and challenges.
Blessed with a beautiful terrain housing
beautifully forested hills and audacious
mountains, Taiwan is a nature lover's delight and
an explorer's door to countless discoveries.
Whether you love a solitary walk in the hills or you are a
gravity-defying sort of a person, you can always find a suitable
option awaiting you in this Asian wonderland. The best thing
about being in Taiwan is that an adventure root is never far
away from you no matter where you are located. And once you
get started, your new found interest becomes an obsession.
Like T S Eliot describes his love as 'sweet poison', we describe it
as 'awfully awesome'. The hills are not far away, so are the
rivers and waterfalls. This is probably because; greeneries
cover more than a two-third of the total island. Therefore,
leaving behind the tall towers and crammed streets from the
days of the great Taiwan Miracle (Economic boom that helped
the country become a major Asian economy), we want you to
discover Taiwan through the eyes of an adventurer. The
options are many- Rock Climbing, Mountain Hiking, River
Rafting and Tracing, Scuba Diving, Golf, Sailing, Windsurfing
and many more exciting things. Let us illustrate a few.
Hiking in the High Hills
For an invigorating hiking trip in Taiwan, our
personal favourite recommendation is the
Huangdidian Trail toward the South-East of Taipei, the
capital. Situated near the reclusive town of Shiding,
this trail is probably the most admired hiking stretch
in the whole region. Other, key trekking areas include
Alishan where a fun-trekking trip can grow into a
challenging trekking adventure. The trekking routs
are so large in numbers that you will get confused
which one to choose but do we need to mention that
each one of them is so unique? Steep rocks or winding
paths- the choice is yours. A deep breath up in the
green hills can really fill up your lungs and a sunrise
atop the hill to make your day asserts only one thing.
Life on this earth is beautiful and there are countless
ways to celebrate your existence. Climbing a lofty
mountain can add up to your feeling of supremacy on
this earth but at the same time you realize how trivial
we human beings are in front of this great force of
nature. If you do not believe in God, Surely you do
believe in the titanic power of nature.
Rafting in the Roaring Rivers
Think you are a stranger to this thrilling world of rafts
and high rapids? Life couldn't have endowed a better
opportunity than this. To get started at Jiajiuliao, a striking
village that boasts of a beautiful hot spring means
something special to any traveller at Taiwan. But, if you need
a real dose of rafting experience, a river tracing along the
Hualien valley (popularly known as the Kingdom of Rivertracing)
will take you through an exotic combination of
climbing, camping, swimming, rappelling and of course,
unyielding rapids. The Laonung River is another most popular
spot for white water rafting in Taiwan. Located at Liouguei
Township in Kaohsiung County in the South of Taiwan, this
river is a preferred destination for playing with the slumps.
Apart from the thrill part involved, rafting and river tracing is
popular option just to escape the heat. If mountain hiking is a
winter time favourite then rafting is the sport of the
summers. We must say, it is quite difficult to keep your eyes
focused on the slopes and cuts as the dense forests on the
banks outlining rugged cliffs drives your senses wild and
high. Next time take the oars; remember we warned you
about the spell of the dancing rivers!
Scuba-diving in the Sinking Shores

We know that the lure of the vast seas is a difficult thing to avoid and this is the reason behind men
discovering innumerable lands across the seas since ages.
But, beneath this enormous world of sea routes and
endless possibilities there lies a completely different
world of coral reefs and marine life. A scuba diving
expedition to get acquainted with this unique world is
made special by the availability an estimated 4,000 divers
and hundreds of diving sites in the costal areas of Taiwan.
Thus, diving in Taiwan is just a matter of simply getting
deeper into the sea. For a change, give the rest of the
world a rest and plunge yourself into the worlds of
endless adventure. Usually, the southern tip of the island
is the starting point for any dive expedition in Taiwan. But,
the \north coast is a diver's choice. Here, the visibility is
excellent and an assortment of different marine life with
the backdrop of a coral canyon will surely take your breath
away. Don't blame us if you lose your heart underwater.
Paragliding above the Panoramic Paradise
Ever wanted to fly like a bird up in the skies? Yes, we know
that it is not a fantasy of the kids alone. The grown up man in
you too wants to break free and sail along the wind. Then, why
not try flying like a bird. Yes, you know what paragliding is but
shedding off the inhibition is something you have never
known. Most definitely you don't need to travel all the way to
Taiwan to do this but, if you do this while on a holiday at
Taiwan then you are in line for an exciting glide. Your launch
pad should be the Green Bay near Taipei where the glide is
awarded with a panoramic view of the coastline along the
Pacific Ocean. But, for the experienced gliders, Gaotai is the
dream destination. This tea capital of Taiwan is a Paragliding
heaven. If you sail up to the sky above, never mind the
direction of the wind. It doesn't matter where this ends but
you will surely get a tea treat. Looking down at the world
beneath you may have a close idea of how it feels to be the
God.
Golfing at the Gorgeous Greens
Agreed that golf isn't the thrilling sport we were
talking about so far but 37 excellent golf courses across the
country can actually thrill the golfer in you. If you are an
expert in this, it is a blessing in golf holes and if you are a
Tiger Woods in the making then this is an excellent place to
discover your golfing skills. We recommend a golfrendezvous
in one of these gorgeous golf courses after you
drain your energy in all the above mentioned adventures. A
languid walk across a green golf course in a dewy morning
