A large percentage of travellers around the world thinks that night clubs and other hangout places are the best
spots to meet the local people and know the inside stories of a city. This is probably the most effective way of
understanding the socio-cultural aspect of a city. Even, the guide books say that this works better than a guidebook!
Those who have travelled to all the best cities in the world swear by such hang out spots that help in understanding
the city in a unique way. These events help in sharing each-other's experiences and views about the city. But other
than the night clubs, the nightlife in a city has other aspects too.
Film festivals, exhibitions, photo galleries, street performances-the options are many and one can have a feel of
the city simply by sitting at a pavement café and observing things. This is a great travel tool for those who never mind
mixing travel with celebrations. Going by this experience, you have probably been to the hottest hang out places in
London, New York and Singapore and you are looking forward to have some more fun.
Thus, in a random exercise to locate great night life in big cities, I picked up Holland. But whatever my research
said about Holland just makes it the next best hang-out destination in the world. Out of its many charming cities,
Amsterdam being the centre point deserves a special mention. Rotterdam and Hague are two other cities that have
a unique night life. So far, Amsterdam has remained one of the leading cultural centers in Europe. With hundreds of
venues throughout the city it sounds difficult to explore and not at all pocket friendly. But, there are also a plenty of
low-cost entertainment choices. For example: theatre.
Being the 'theatre city', Amsterdam comes alive every evening with dancing lights, sizzling sound and countless
emotions as the theatres speak greatest of tales the most elegant way! A wonderful night at Amsterdam can even
mean checking out the graffiti on city walls, spotting street fashion trends and shaking a leg with street performers!
So, next time, have a great time while travelling, you surely know where to look for it.
